if she's a fox or a dog... those with fuffy long tails have evolved spines and vertebra running most of the length of their tails. check out a long-haired cat and feel the bones in its tail and see how long it is compared to the fur. if the ring on the end of her tail is near the tip of the ends of the vertebra and NOT just the fuffy part; she could probably move the ring away from her feet and legs automatically.

I don't know for dogs, but hairs can considerably contribute to the length of a tail. Even then, the tip of the tail isn't strong. You can pin it in place with a little presure from your pinky and the cat or dog won't be able to move it away without using its legs instead of relying on its tail muscles. Adding a weight there would be almost like wearing the worlds largest turban (broke that dudes neck! A simple sneeze will become lethal and so any random head movement that may happen in life). Fun fact: helmets can increase the risk of neck injuries, both by adding mass and thus torque, but also by digging witht heir brim into the neck (such poorly designed ones have been around in many places).

mhm, we're still not sure if she's a cat, dog, or a fox... i'm leaning wolf-ish due to the shape of her ears. foxes do have triangular ears as well though. cats' tails are closer to prehensile than dogs' are... many more muscles and a greater range of motion due to the shape of the vertebra, number of them, and the gap in-between each bone and the cartilage and bursae etc. but cats' tails aren't as strong as dogs' are. get hit in the leg by a Labrador retriever or German Sheperd's tail and you'll feel it. plus dogs' tails are meant as a counterbalance to sharp corners taken at top running speed. therefore the vertebra are larger, denser, and the muscles in dogs' tails are stronger and their tails' muscle cellular structure and arrangement is denser. cats' tails evolved due to tree climbing, limb walking, hopping/leaping, and pouncing. so a cat's tail is meant to counterbalance slow, delicate, and carefully considered movements. like the long long thin pole highwire walkers use. cats' tails also alter their center of gravity depending on how curved or extended the tail is. dogs' tails also alter their center of gravity but on a much more... fast and dirty fashion.

easy test, take a small brass bell and find a cat with a long tail. attach the bell to the cat's tail tip and see how it rings. loudly, softly, how often? then, take a proportionately same weight bell, say the cat's bell weighs 1/10 of the cat's body weight. find a bell that same proportion to the dog's weight and attach it to the dog's tail tip. :> i bet that bell will ring louder, faster, and more often than the cat's one will. well, if you can get a cat to sit still long enough to allow you to even attempt this experiment. :> probably get that look as if to say.... 'WTF u doing ooman? i goes aways now. no pets for you.' and the cat walks off and won't cooperate. of course the dog will be HAPPY and 'yay! new toys with ooman! what does? what does? ooh makes noises when tail wags! fun! fun! pets and plays! yay!' i can't try this experiment because my dog has only a nub for a tail. it is barely 3 vertebrae long.

BTW: the part about pinning the tail down with my pinky is from experience. Cats have the nasty habit of wagging their tail in a way that repeatedly hits you. They don't care if you try to sleep and they keep brushing your eyes and nose... When they do it to other cats, catfights usually ensue... Still, they hate it when you pin it down, or you pick them up and relocate them...

1st, it's a fantasy series so somethings won't make sense realistically. 2nd She's a Muscle brained fighter with more primal power than magic, I'm willing to bet the ring on her tail barely bothers her and if she wears it every day she'd grown accustom to controlling it in a manner that she doesn't hit herself with it. Then again Delta doesn't have the strongest intelligence but probably has the strongest Instinct out of the 7.

Also a tail isn't just hair, it's flesh/muscle and bone. Ideally tails are for balance so logically the rings weight would probably mess with her center of balance slightly. What is clear though is it is not pulling her hair
